Asking A Better Question: Where will YOU be in 5 years?
“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?”
“That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,” said the Cat.
“I don’t much care where…” said Alice.
“Then it doesn’t matter which way you go,” said the Cat.
-Lewis Carroll, Alice in Wonderland
After that segue you would probably expect me to ask you what you want to do with your life, right? Or perhaps you were expecting the cliche question, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” Well, I’m not going to ask you that because it’s likely that you’ll give a status quo answer. So instead I would like to pose this question to you…
“what is the ONE, most exciting thing in life that you would LOVE to do every single day if you never had to worry about money?”
Would you sport fish? Would you tour ancient ruins? Would you become a student of martial arts? Would you travel the world and build houses for families in need? What excites you and gets your heart pounding?
Now, hold on to that excitement. Take a moment to visualize yourself living that lifestyle. How does it feel? Who are you with? What do you love about it? Hold on to that feeling. Don’t ever let it go! THAT, my friend, is your happiness.
I’m going to do a book club with the book, The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss.
If you’re ready to realize your dreams – not the doldrum, cliche, status quo dreams…I’m talking about that dream you just dreamed a moment ago that had your head reeling with happiness…then join me! Stop wishing for things to change and start taking responsibility for your future.
